Chapman University proudly announces that Valeria Delgado, a first-generation DACA recipient, Orange resident, and dedicated student pursuing a career in medicine, has been invited by Congressman Lou Correa (D-CA) to attend President Biden’s State of the Union Address next week. Delgado’s presence serves to underscore the urgent need for comprehensive immigration reform and highlights the contributions of DACA recipients to American society.

Valeria Delgado is originally fromTepic, Nayarit, Mexico. Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences at Chapman University, Delgado’s commitment to her education and her community shines through her extensive involvement both on campus and beyond. She has taken on leadership roles and volunteered with esteemed organizations such as the American Red Cross, the Chapman First Aid Team, and the Children’s Hospital of Orange County.

Delgado’s aspirations in the medical field are fueled by her desire to increase Latino representation in healthcare. With dreams of becoming a Physician Assistant (PA), she aims to contribute to the mere 7% of Latino PAs in the United States. Her dedication to her studies and her community exemplify the resilience and potential of DACA recipients.

“I am extremely grateful to join Congressman Correa at the State of the Union Address in support of the Dreamer community. The DACA program has given me countless opportunities that I never imagined could be possible,” Delgado said. “My hope is that this event serves as an inspiration to propel more individuals to stand with Congressman Correa in support of exceptional programs such as DACA which uplift our communities and ultimately, open the door of opportunity to hundreds of worthy individuals.”
