Law Dean to Speak at International Bar Association Conference

Chapman University Fowler School of Law Dean Paul Paton will speak at the International Bar Association’s annual conference in Paris in late October and early November.

Paton will speak about “law as a lifelong and rewarding profession” and lead a panel on trends in the legal field.

The conference attracts more than 5,000 attendees from 130 jurisdictions across the legal field.

Paton, a legal ethics expert and former dean of law and professor at the University of Alberta, began his appointment in June.

His time at Chapman started with an $11 million gift to the law school by Board of Trustees chair Parker Kennedy. Ten million is designated for student recruitment and scholarships to bring top talent to the law school, and $1 million will elevate the Parker S. Kennedy Professor of Law to the Parker S. Kennedy Endowed Chair in Law.
