Celebrating Chapman University Volunteers During National Volunteer Week, the spotlight shines on the dedicated volunteers who contribute their time and energy to enriching the university community.

National Volunteer Week, recognized April 21-27, 2024, gives us an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the unsung heroes of Chapman University: the dedicated volunteers who selflessly contribute their time and energy to enriching the university community. From mentoring students to supporting signature events, hosting welcome receptions, and sharing their expertise on panels, their invaluable contributions resonate deeply within the Chapman community, leaving a mark on both students and the institution as a whole.

Our volunteers serve as ambassadors of Chapman’s values, bringing their diverse experiences and expertise to the forefront. They inspire, motivate and guide students through various stages of their academic and professional journeys. Whether it’s sharing insights in classrooms, offering career advice during networking events, or providing a supportive presence at university functions, their unwavering commitment enhances the holistic development of our students.

Amidst the celebration, however, we must also take a moment to remember and honor one of our own who has passed away this year, Jill Waltz-Smith ’90. Jill exemplified the spirit of selflessness and dedication, leaving an enduring legacy through her countless contributions as a parent and an alumna. Her dedication to Chapman University and its community serves as a beacon of inspiration, reminding us all of the profound impact one person can make through acts of kindness and generosity.

As we celebrate National Volunteer Week, let us extend our heartfelt gratitude to all Chapman University volunteers, past and present, for their invaluable contributions. Together, they embody the spirit of service that fuels the university’s momentum, builds lasting community, and supports student success.

For those inspired to give their time, there are many opportunities to get involved and make a difference. Whether you’re an alum looking to reconnect with your alma mater, a proud parent eager to contribute to your student’s educational journey, or a dedicated community member seeking to support the Chapman Family, there’s a place for you here.
