Faculty Honors – Professors Jenkins and Brown Receive Top Awards

Each year, The Office of the Provost and the Faculty Senate co-host the Faculty Awards Convocation honoring members of the Chapman University faculty for teaching, scholarship, and research. The event was canceled this year due to the pandemic, but awards were still announced via internal email. We are delighted to report that two Crean College faculty members took home top prizes.

The first is Assistant Professor of Psychology, Brooke Jenkins, Ph.D. who received both the prestigious Valerie Scudder Award and a Unit Faculty Excellence Award.

Upon receiving the news of her awards, Dr. Jenkins had this to say:

I was overjoyed to receive the news that I was selected for a Valerie Scudder Award. I cannot express how much of a pleasure it is serving at Chapman University and in the Crean College of Health and Behavioral Sciences. The work I complete would not be possible without the mentorship I receive from my colleagues, support that our staff provide, and tremendous work of my students. To be recognized among my peers whom I so highly respect at an institution I deeply value, is a complete honor. Thank you to the hard work of the Faculty Development Council in reviewing faculty applications.

In addition to teaching and mentoring students, Dr. Jenkins directs the Affect Regulation and Health Laboratory which explores how emotions change over time.

Assistant Clinical Professor of Physical Therapy, Patricia Brown, DPT was the second Crean College faculty member to be honored. She received a Unit Faculty Excellence Award. Dr. Brown was equally honored and deeply appreciative of the recognition. In addition to teaching and mentoring students in Chapman’s renowned Doctor of Physical Therapy program, she is a practicing clinician specializing in work with Parkinson’s Disease patients.

Congratulations to both professors!
