Edward James Olmos
will be the special guest for tonight’s screening of
“Blade Runner”
(1982) in Folino Theater at Chapman’s Marion Knott Studios.
Olmos plays Officer Gaff in this cyberpunk vision of the future, directed by
Ridley Scott,
in which man has developed the technology to create replicants, human clones used to serve in the colonies outside Earth but with fixed lifespans. In Los Angeles 2019, Gaff is partnered with Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), an expert Blade Runner, or cop who specializes in terminating replicants. Originally in retirement, Deckard is forced to re-enter the force when rogue replicants escape from an off-world colony to Earth.
The film begins at 7 p.m. Admission is free. A Q&A with Olmos will follow the screening.
