The HUMANITAS Prize was created in 1974 to honor film and television writers whose work explores the human condition in a nuanced, meaningful way. The Angell fellowship was created to honor David and Lynn Angell, who were aboard the first plane to hit the World Trade Center Sept. 11, 2001. David was a prolific writer and producer, beginning his career on the staff of
Cheers
and going on to co-create
Wings
and
Frasier
. Lynn provided the opportunity for David to pursue writing. She supported his efforts by working as an educator and librarian.
“HUMANITAS exists to shine a light on writers who inspire us to think, feel, laugh and cry with stories that tell us where we’ve been, where we are and where we are going,” says HUMANITAS Executive Director Cathleen Young.
CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler
, a member of the Dodge Industry Advisory Board, will deliver the keynote address at this year’s luncheon.
