Little books a big draw at library

An exhibit of tiny books in the first floor lobby of Leatherby Libraries has become a big attraction among students and visitors.

“We’ve all noticed that it’s created a lot of interest among the students. They’ve just been pouring over it every day,” says Claudia Horn, the special collections and archives librarian for Leatherby.

The traveling exhibit, on loan from the Miniature Book Society, features dozens of books, including a thumbnail-size copy of
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
and a matchbook-size religious tract published in 1847. The exhibit will be on display through May.

A second display of the library’s own miniature book collection is on view in the Frank Mt. Pleasant Library of Special Collections and Archives on the fourth floor. The budding little collection upstairs includes a tiny autographed copy of Ray Bradbury’s
Long After Ecclesiastes
. The fourth-floor display was curated by art history major Emily Freyer ’10.
