Tonight’s “Evening of Holocaust Remembrance” will include a rare gathering of nearly 150 Holocaust survivors and a talk from one of the world’s foremost Holocaust scholars.

The main speaker for this profound and important event is Michael Berenbaum, Ph.D., the Gold/Weinstein Family Visiting Professor of Holocaust History at Chapman University, who will give a talk titled “The Holocaust: Why We Remember.” Dr. Berenbaum has consulted in the development of many museums, libraries, historical films and documentaries and is author and editor of sixteen books. He served as project director of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, overseeing its creation.

Upwards of 150 Holocaust survivors, including many from the 1939 Club, an organization dedicated to Holocaust education, documentation and justice, are expected to attend the event, sponsored by the Rodgers Center for Holocaust Education.

The event begins at 7 p.m. in Memorial Hall and organizers recommend that those planning to attend allow time for parking and arrival, as it is open seating

Admission is free. More information is available
