Congratulations to this Week’s Service Plan of Recognition Recipients

We are proud to name this week’s Service Plan of Recognition awardees for their extraordinary work as Chapman responds to COVID-19. Each staff and administrator selected embodies the dedication and integrity that continues to drive and strengthen Chapman University.

This week’s recipients are: 

Kayla Brooks, administrative assistant, Center for Global Education

Kayla was flooded with calls from distressed students & parents about canceled flights, academics, and the financial impact of bringing our students home. She demonstrated professionalism and empathy during an incredibly stressful period. – LB Brown

TJ Pe, student affairs coordinator, School of Pharmacy

TJ has done a phenomenal job keeping the PharmD admissions process running smoothly during the campus closure. Masterfully, he’s managed the switch from in-person interviews to Zoom interviews, including faculty training on the new process. – LB Brown

Cynthia Wheeler, senior accountant, Financial Services

Angelica Pacheco, Sodexo

Angelica has been a part of our front-line team, serving the Chapman community, and has been doing such a great job here. – Eric Cameron

Victor Muramoto, manager, Systems Administration, IS&T

Victor has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help lead the implementation of technologies essential for our working & teaching remotely teams. Key initiatives in which he had an integral role include Zoom, Canvas & Remote Access. – Helen Norris

Sean Orrett, client services technician, IS&T

Sean is always willing to come to campus to work through issues that need physical attention. He excels in getting jobs done quickly & safely. Sean keeps demonstrating that no job is too small & no service should go without attention. – Helen Norris

Dorcas James, assistant director, IS&T

Dorcas has provided direct support to faculty while continuing her major project, the conversion to Canvas. We have asked Dorcas to complete that project by Fall 2020 instead of Spring 2021, a challenge she has accepted willingly. – Helen Norris

Brenna Bell, executive assistant, Office of the Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer

Allison Kelley, senior administrative assistant, Office of the Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer

Jill Zeiger, executive assistant, Office of the Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer

All have been instrumental in providing support & resources to the CU Safely Back work being undertaken across the campus. They are always willing to help & problem solve any issue. They are invaluable asset & tremendously appreciated. – Randy Burba

Megan Faulkner, sponsored projects analyst, Office of Research and Crean College

Megan has done a great job supporting faculty with research grants in Crean College, made challenging with COVID-19. Even with a short grant year and COVID shutdown, she secured carryforward funding for Dr. Glynn on a large NIH grant. – Tom Piechota

Joey Hoang, lead developer, Strategic Marketing and Communications

Joey has been pivotal in the movement of the digital experience for both our main website and digital event needs. His expertise and hard work have been key to our digital success during this time. – Jamie Ceman

Ryan Tolentino, senior graphic designer, Strategic Marketing and Communications

Ryan has been actively working to keep co-workers engaged with a variety of activities which have been done remotely. He has shown a dedication to everyone’s emotional wellness to help SMC stay connected. – Jamie Ceman

Justin Riley, associate director, Student Community Support and Development, Dean of Students Office

Over the past few weeks, Justin has organized efforts to support Black students during this distressing time. He also has collaborated with faculty, staff, and alumni on efforts to bring the community together. – Jerry Price
