Mark Axelrod, Ph.D., Department of English, Wilkinson College of Humanities and Social Sciences, has received a Fulbright Fellowship to teach screenwriting. Professor Axelrod will be choosing between Rio de Janeiro and Stockholm for his Fulbright post. His fourth book on screenwriting, Constructing Dialogue: From Citizen Kane To Midnight In Paris, published by Bloomsbury/Continuum, is set for an October domestic release and his latest screenplay, Stayin’ Alive, has been accepted for production by Cuckoo Clock Productions, Hamburg, Germany.
John Eastman, Ph.D., the Henry Salvatori Professor of Law and Community Service, Dale E. Fowler School of Law, was on PBS’s Newshour discussing the number of cases that have cropped up in the wake of this past June’s Supreme Court decision holding that part of the Defense of Marriage Act was unconstitutional.
Catherine Keefe, adjunct faculty, Department of English, Wilkinson College of Humanities and Social Sciences, was a finalist in the literary publication Imagine This! An ArtPrize Anthology. Keefe’s essay was titled One Secret. Look for Imagine This! An ArtPrize Anthology on the ArtPrize website at www.anthologycompetition.com.
Richard Turner, Ph.D., Department of Art, Wilkinson College of Humanities and Social Sciences, has an installation in a group exhibition at the Sturt Haaga Gallery in Descanso Gardens. The public opening of ELEMENTAL | Of the Earth is on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 4 to 6 p.m. The ELEMENTAL | Of the Earth exhibition runs through Sunday, Nov. 24.
