Mark Twain once wrote, “Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it.”

But the scientists and policy makers presenting at Beyond Copenhagen, the international climate change conference this week at Chapman, are going beyond talking.

“I think what we’re doing is actually a new way to look at the whole issue of climate and how these points are interconnected,” says Menas Kafatos, Ph.D., dean of Chapman’s Schmid College of Science and a noted computational science and climate researcher.

“It’s very unique. Usually the climate meetings are dominated by either scientists or policy people, but not the way that we are bringing everything together,” Dr. Kafatos says.
