Scholarship recipient. Talent management company intern. Assistant film director. Student ambassador. University tour guide. Actor. Intramural sports enthusiast. Double major.
All these activities would typically be found on a graduating senior’s resume. However, for Quentin ’27, Chapman’s personalized education and experiential opportunities enabled him to participate in all these in his first year of college.
“I love how I’m able to experience so many different things through various clubs, organizations, classes and residence life activities and meet a diverse array of people through them,” Quentin explained. “It’s my favorite thing about being a Chapman student.”
Arriving in Southern California from Houston, Texas, Quentin earned a Chapman Fund scholarship that allowed him to attend Chapman. Because he didn’t have to worry about finances, he could freely immerse himself in his studies and campus life.
“Because of my scholarship, I’m able to focus on the aspects of Chapman that I love and further enrich my educational experience,” Quentin stated.
Quentin has many career goals as a double major in film and television production at Dodge College of Film and Media Arts and business administration at the Argyros College of Business and Economics. One goal is to work as a director or actor on a film and attend an awards show like the Oscars or Emmys. Another goal is to work in healthcare management or administration to aid in running the facilities that give back to the community.
“Maybe someday, I’ll be able to combine my two passions and run a portable hospital stationed on a film set or work in film financing, which would combine my two majors,” he said.
Chapman is setting Quentin up for the next stage in his career by exposing him to industry-level practices in Dodge College’s top-ranked film school and interacting with real-world finance software within the Bloomberg terminals in Argyros College.
“I can satisfy all my educational needs and gain internship opportunities that will benefit me in the career field, all while still immersing myself within the culture of college life to become a well-rounded person,” he said.
Quentin is thankful for receiving his Chapman Fund scholarship, which allows him to have a multifaceted life at Chapman. The Chapman Fund directly impacts student life and academics, scholarships and financial aid, student health and wellness, faculty excellence, campus facilities and more.
“I have had so many unique experiences that have helped me highlight what I want to do in my life,” Quentin said. “Whether exercising in the beautifully constructed Argyros Fitness Center or recording post-sound in Dodge College’s Foley Stage, I know it wouldn’t have been possible without the Chapman Fund. I’m thankful for that.”
Quentin is also thankful for the people that he’s encountered at Chapman. Whether that be a friend, co-worker, professor or residence hall mate, each has truly shaped his Chapman Experience and helped him learn something new every day.
