Dodge College Alumnae Earn Emmy Nominations for Outstanding Achievements in Television

Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, ranked the No. 4 film school by The Hollywood Reporter and The Wrap announced two of its alumni, Laura Zempel ’09 and Karina Manashil ’12 received Emmy nominations Wednesday for their outstanding work in the television industry.

The Television Academy is recognizing Zempel’s editing skills on the hit show “Beef.” Her artistry has brought the show’s gripping narrative and compelling characters to life, captivating audiences and leaving them eagerly awaiting each episode. In 2022, she took home a Primetime Emmy for outstanding single-camera picture editing for the drama series, “Euphoria.”

Karina Manashil, an alumna from Dodge College’s class of 2012, has been recognized for her accomplishments as an executive producer on the groundbreaking series “Entergalactic.” Manashil’s visionary leadership and meticulous planning have been instrumental in bringing the show’s ambitious concept to fruition. “Entergalactic” is an animated special from Kid Cudi that served as an accompaniment to his album. The one-off program scored an Emmy nomination for outstanding animated program and will compete against “Bob’s Burgers,” “Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal,” “Rick And Morty” andThe Simpsons.” 

Zempel and Manashil’s Emmy nominations speak to their achievements and excellence in television, highlighting the high-caliber industry training provided by Dodge College. The Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards will tape on Sept. 9.
