The Panther and Chapman News Receive Accolades for Excellence in Journalism

The Panther and Chapman News have been acknowledged for their exceptional achievements. The Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) announced the winners of its student journalism awards for the western region encompassing California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii, Guam and the Mariana Islands.

The Panther, Chapman University’s award-winning, student-run newspaper, won the title of Best All-Around Student Newspaper and secured a finalist position for the esteemed Best Independent Online Student Publication accolade. Angelina Hicks, the editor-in-chief of The Panther, received the Breaking News Reporting award and was also recognized as a finalist for General News Reporting. Within broadcast journalism, Chapman News, a high-definition, digital newscast produced live every Friday at noon from Dodge College of Film and Media Arts’ “TV Studio” at Marion Knott Studios, excelled by earning the esteemed honor of Best All-Around Television Newscast.
