Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Heritage Month Events at Chapman University

Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Heritage Month, which runs from May 1 to 31, celebrates the identities, histories and experiences of the APIDA community. Chapman events during APIDA Heritage Month provide opportunities to honor the diverse cultures of APIDA communities.

Asian Pacific Student Association (APSA) will table and sell boba with the approval of Sodexo to fundraise for spring APIDA celebrations.

Aloha Mau – Lū’au

Saturday, May 6, 5 p.m.
Harold Hutton Sports Center

Chapman Pua’ikeana presents an evening of traditional Hawaiian food, music, student performances and games. A lū’au is a Hawaiian feast featuring lively music and vibrant cultural performances from Hawai’i. “Aloha Mau,” meaning “perpetual love,” is this year’s theme.

Images and Imaginings of Internment

This workshop will include an overview of the website: Images and Imaginings of Internment: Comics and Illustrations of Camp, a multimodal website intended to teach middle school students and above about the Japanese American incarceration, its history, its inhabitants and the social and political climate surrounding Executive Order 9066.
