Chapman Giving Day 2023 Sets Goal of 1,000 Donations

On Tuesday, April 25, Chapman University will hold its fifth annual Giving Day, an event that asks members of the Chapman community to come together to support student scholarships and extraordinary experiences.

“Giving Day has become one of our most important annual traditions at Chapman,” says Matt Parlow, Chapman’s executive vice president and chief advancement officer. “The success of this event each year shows how much our community is dedicated to our students.”

This year, Giving Day is focused on increasing overall participation, with a goal of 1,000 donations to the Chapman Fund during the 24-hour online event. The Chapman Fund is the university’s most versatile fund, providing scholarships and student enrichment through out-of-the-classroom experiences and research opportunities.

Making a Collective Impact

“Giving Day is a celebration of the Chapman Family,” says Jen DeGrave, assistant vice president of annual giving. “A contribution of any size is truly valued, as all gifts make an impact on our university and community.”

To build momentum for Giving Day participation, Chapman has recruited influencers from among the Chapman Family to help spread the word on social media.

Steven Babiak ’15 is grateful for the opportunity to support Chapman as a Giving Day influencer.

“Chapman was where I truly found myself and developed into the person I am proud to be today. The relationships I built and the experiences I gained here serve every facet of my life,” he says.

“As an alumnus, the Chapman University community continues to be a home for me – a place where I feel connected, cherished and cared for, and now a community where I can give something back to the place that gave me everything. Supporting the Chapman Fund means that I can play a part in creating the same kind of transformative experience for current and future Panthers.”

Chapman’s annual Giving Day has raised millions for the Chapman Fund since its debut in 2019, and it has been named one of the top five charity events in Orange County. During the pandemic, Giving Day donations provided vital funds for students who were impacted financially. This year, organizers expect more robust participation than ever, with several matching donors lined up to help maximize the event’s overall impact.
