After Ishani Patel ’22 became Bessemer Venture Partners’ first fellow from Chapman University, she was asked, how will Gen Z change the world?
She answered that her generation “is environmentally aware and focused on reshaping the digital world. Gen Z has an innate sense of idealism that will help drive innovation.”
In 2021, Patel was one of 25 students chosen from more than 1,000 applicants for the venture capital company’s fellowship, which connects university students to prominent tech companies. She earned dual degrees in data analytics and economics from Chapman.
The summer fellowship included work experience at Bessemer-backed companies, professional development and mentorship.
Patel interned at Friday, an app that helps people manage time to save one day a week. Before that, she interned at two other venture capital firms.
She will be working in the San Francisco office of investment firm BlackRock, fulfilling her assertion that her generation will shape the tech industry.
