Men’s lacrosse pounds USC, 14-4, to stay unbeaten and earn No. 1 national ranking

The victories just keep rolling in for the Chapman University men’s lacrosse team, which has won its first 13 games this season, earning the Panthers the No. 1 spot in two national rankings. The winning streak includes a 14-4 drubbing of USC at the Coliseum in Los Angeles on Sunday, April 3.

But that’s just the latest lopsided victory. The Panthers have also overwhelmed UCLA (by a 17-3 score), Cal (13-5) and Texas (19-0) this season. Their perfect record at Wilson Field includes a 9-8 victory over Stanford, which is ranked No. 6 nationally in one poll and No. 11 in the other.

Chapman’s strength is particularly evident against conference opponents. In Dallas Hartley’s six years as head coach, the Panthers are 28-0 in conference play, including 2-0 so far this season.

Next up for the Chapman men is a home game Saturday, April 9, at 1 p.m. against Loyola Marymount.

The Panther women are also enjoying another strong season. Their 10-2 overall record this year includes a league-leading 5-1 mark in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The Chapman women earned a hard-fought 13-12 victory at Redlands on April 2 and are now preparing for a Senior Day home match-up against Whittier on Saturday at 5 p.m.
