Chapman University has maintained its #7 ranking in the West in the prestigious “America’s Best Colleges” listings from
U.S. News & World Report
magazine.
In the 2016 rankings released this week, Chapman held at #7 (tied with University of Portland) among 120 peer institutions in the West in the influential rankings, which many high school students and their parents use as a tool in selecting a university to attend.
Chapman also ranked #7 in the West among Best Colleges for Veterans, according to
U.S. News
, reflecting its initiatives and programs assisting veterans and active-duty service members attending or returning to college.
Chapman has vaulted dramatically upward in the
U.S. News
rankings since 1991, when it ranked No. 61 in the West. The
U.S. News
list is regarded as the most influential college ranking system in the nation.
“Being in the Top Ten in the West affirms the commitment to excellence of our faculty and staff, as well as reflecting the steadily increasing quality of our students,” said Chapman University President James L. Doti. “We’re very proud that Chapman has established such a respected reputation.”
The
U.S. News
rankings examine how more than 1,400 accredited, four-year schools compare on a set of up to 16 widely accepted indicators of excellence. Among the many factors weighed in determining the rankings are peer assessment (how leaders of other universities regard their peer institutions), graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources and alumni giving.
