Student Research Day to feature alumnus Robert Diaz ’97 as keynote speaker


A business law attorney who counts his undergraduate research experiences at Chapman University as key to his career success will be the guest speaker at Student Research Day Thursday, May 9.

Robert Diaz ’97 will deliver a keynote talk titled “Research: A Wealth of Opportunities” at noon as part of the day-long event showcasing the research activities of Chapman’s undergraduate and graduate students.

The lunch event will be free to student presenters and faculty at the day-long showcase. Students interested in presenting their research or scholarly activities have until Monday, April 22, to submit their abstracts using the online form available at the
Office of Undergraduate Research
. All students are welcome to attend the poster sessions and enjoy the free refreshments and door prizes. The sessions are scheduled from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and from 4 to 6 p.m.

Diaz is a corporate transactional attorney with Finlayson Williams Toffer Roosevelt & Lilly LLP and co-owner and founder of Komforte Chockolates. In addition, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army Reserve in 2002 and holds the rank of Captain in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps and serves with the 416th Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne) in San Diego.

He was the 1997 recipient of the Cheverton Trophy, the university’s highest undergraduate award.
