New vice chancellor for graduate education named

Associate dean and professor Richard E. Redding, Ph.D., has accepted the position of associate vice chancellor for graduate education.

Dr. Redding currently serves as associate dean of academic affairs and professor at Chapman University School of Law, and is also a professor of psychology in the Schmid College of Science.  Dr. Redding earned his B.A. at Hampden-Sydney College, J.D. at Washington and Lee University, M.S. at Vanderbilt University, and his Ph.D. at the University of Virginia.

Prior to joining Chapman in 2008, Dr. Redding was a Professor of Law at Villanova University, Research Professor of Psychology at Drexel University, and Director of the J.D./Ph.D. Program in Law and Psychology at Villanova and Drexel Universities. Dr. Redding is a nationally recognized scholar in forensic psychology, juvenile justice, and the use of social science in public policy, having published four books, a variety of book chapters and government monographs, and numerous articles in leading legal and scientific journals.  He is an elected Fellow of both the American Psychological Association and the Association for Psychological Science.

The new role of associate vice chancellor for graduate education will coordinate the development of new graduate and professional programs, the development of policies and academic services for graduate and professional education, and facilitate the expansion and integration of faculty-student research programs.
