The story of Arlington House is among the historic tales Dr. Keene explains on the History Channel program, “America’s Book of Secrets.”

Jennifer Keene, Ph.D., chair of the Department of History, appears as an expert in the new History Channel series
America’s Book of Secrets
. Loosely inspired by the
National Treasure
movies, the series takes a historical look at famous buildings, landmarks, monuments and organizations across the U.S., uncovering little-known bits of trivia and knowledge.

Calling them “secrets” is a bit of a stretch and there’s no big-government conspiracy to keep these things “hidden,” as the series’ hype suggests – but it’s interesting stuff!

Here’s the series description from the History Channel website:  “Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of the most legendary monuments and powerful organizations in the United States?
America’s Book of Secrets
lifts the veil of mystery, giving you unparalleled access to historical narratives and insider information previously hidden from the public. Through in-depth research and exclusive channels, this series delves into a variety of familiar but enigmatic American institutions, from the FBI and the Pentagon to Fort Knox and Area 51. Go beyond the locked doors and security checkpoints of government agencies, famous landmarks and stealthy societies to glimpse the hidden worlds you were never intended to see.”

Dr. Keene appears in the episode “The Monuments,” which may be watched in its entirety (in two parts) on the series
website
.

The series is currently airing on
The History Channel
– check your local or cable listings for air times and repeats.

Dr. Keene is also featured on the new museum audio guide for the National World War I Museum at the Liberty Memorial in Kansas City, which is set to go live soon.
