Professor Bradac leads Shakespeare OC into 20th season

A tragedy, a comedy and a parody.

Yes, there’s something for everyone in Shakespeare Orange County’s summer lineup, the county’s premiere classical theater company now in its 20th anniversary season, led by Thomas F. Bradac, associate professor, College of Performing Arts at Chapman University.

The company will open its anniversary season with
The Tragedy of Julius Caesar
July 7-23. Among the featured performers will be David Denman from Fox’s
Traffic Light
and NBC’s
The Office
as Brutus. Then the company will present
The Comedy of Errors
Aug. 4-20. All performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 8:15 p.m.

As a bonus, the company will close the season with a reprise performance of
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare—Abridged
, a popular parody sometimes called “Shakespeare on Steroids” or “Speed Dating the Bard.” Performances will be at 8:15 p.m. Sundays July 24 and 31 and Aug. 7 and 14.  Directed by Professor Bradac, this abridged version of the entire canon of Shakespeare’s plays is performed in less than two hours, and features Neil Moutrey, Joshua Snyder and Jeremy Schaeg.

. All Thursday performances are “Pay What You Will,” where payment is at the discretion of the audience member. All performances are presented under the stars at the Garden Grove Festival Amphitheatre in Euclid Park, 12740 Main St., Garden Grove.
