Chapman friends John and Ryan Dahlem returned from the May expedition on which they took the pennant just in time for it to go into the pack of President Jim Doti, who with his son, Adam, will climb Alaska’s Mount McKinley beginning June 9.

The Dotis have already climbed Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, Elbrus and Vinson, four of the world’s renowned Seven Summits. The beloved pennant has been toted along each time. When not packed in with climbing supplies and on its way up a mountain, the pennant is displayed in the Leatherby Libraries in the Doti-Struppa Mountaineering Collection. The photo at left is on display there now.

The Dotis plan to post online updates about their McKinley climb on an Adventure Zone-hosted website created for trekkers. Visit the Adventure Zone website
here
to see how they’re preparing and follow the trip once it’s underway with the GPS tracking, fan blog and media gallery the website offers. Adam Doti built another website
here
with additional satellite images and links.
