Can weeding be fun?
Yes, if you’re on one of the habitat restoration service trips to Upper Newport Bay organized by The Department of Student & Campus Life.
During the school year Chapman students are among the most diligent volunteers in the monthly work days coordinated by the California Coastal Commission. But the weeds don’t stop growing when students leave for summer, so the department is asking for volunteers from the Chapman community at large to help out.
If you’re interested, the next outing is from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 26. Please contact Justin Koppelman, program coordinator for Student Civic Engagement, at

. The work involves removing invasive plants and planting and watering native species. (Check out this

to see what it’s like.) Please confirm with Justin whether you’d prefer to ride with a group in a Chapman van (departing from Chapman) or meet at the site.
