Heads up! They're throwing pots just for you

Connor McGinn, left, and Michael Paegel, gear up for ceramics sale.

Platters, dishes, pitchers and teapots are just some of the student-crafted treasures that will go on sale next week at the annual Art Department Ceramics Sale.

One artist returning to the sale this year is business major and ceramic hobbyist Connor McGinn ’10, who used his sale proceeds last year to pay for his service trip to New Orleans. He says the art form is a nifty stress buster.

“It’s a great way to get the release from the business classes and create a different outlet,” he says.

Junior business major Michael Paegel produced a small mountain of platters for the sale. Although his fine arts requirement was fulfilled by the class last year, he returned for “the creative aspect” of the program.

Hmm. We’re seeing a pattern here. Maybe we should all dig into a chunk of clay and see what happens.

The sale will be held Monday, May 10, through Friday, May 14, at Attallah Piazza. Posters designed by graphic design students and faculty will also be for sale.
