Staff Information Session on Body-Worn Cameras

Chapman University’s Department of Public Safety is hosting multiple informational sessions to discuss the department’s plans to begin using body-worn cameras in spring 2023 to enhance the safety and security of our campus community.

The next informational session on body-worn cameras is scheduled for staff on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. in Beckman Hall Room 404, and on Zoom at https://chapman.zoom.us/j/95544495639.

The Department of Public Safety aims to give the campus community an opportunity to ask questions about the new policy, department training and the public’s privacy rights in advance of the full roll-out in spring 2023. The body-worn cameras will be eased in through a multi-phased plan that includes presentations to student groups, Chapman parents, campus leadership, faculty and staff; hands-on training for officers; and on-campus tabling events where students, faculty and staff can see the cameras in use and ask questions.

If you have questions regarding body-worn cameras or the informational sessions, please contact Rick Gonzalez, Chief of Public Safety at rigonzalez@chapman.edu.
