Heads rolled, blood dripped and eyeballs popped at Chapman University’s first Panther Pumpkin Pageant, held today in Attallah Piazza. The event drew 24 entrants from departments throughout the university and was capped off with the arrival of President Jim Doti, wielding a sword and decked out in a King Arthur costume.
Entries ranged from a dazzling ballerina pumpkin from — where else? — the School of Dance to Registration’s shark head pumpkin holding a worried-looking betta fish in a glass bowl. Everyone was a winner in the fun category, but only a lucky few took home the Harry & David gift boxes. Winning teams included Publications for “Most Creative,” Public Relations for “Best Chapman Theme,” School of Law for “Most Humorous” and Admissions for “Scariest.”

There’s a haunting collection of even more photos posted on Flickr, compliments of Tracie Hall, serials and acquisitions librarian at the School of Law. And let’s all send kudos to Adrianna Gonzalez, department assistant in Human Resources, for organizing the whole affair. It was spooktacular!
