At check presentation are (l-r) Councilman Mark Murphy, Councilman Jon Dumitru, Alumni Association President Robert Diaz, President Jim Doti, Mayor Carolyn Cavecche, Councilwoman Tita Smith and Councilman Denis Bilodeau.

A donation of $150,000 was presented by Chapman University President Jim Doti and Robert Diaz, president of the
Chapman Alumni Association,
to the Orange City Council last week with gratitude to the vibrant community in which the university makes its home.

The check, in an amount that also reflects the university’s upcoming 150
th
anniversary, will support enhancements to the fields, playgrounds and facilities of
Grijalva Park
.

The donation also mirrors the anniversary celebration’s commitment from Chapman students and families to provide 150,000 hours of service. Many of those hours were served during the
Chapman Day of Service
that occurred as part of Homecoming and Family Weekend. Among the groups benefiting from the day were El Modena High School, Mary’s Kitchen, the OC Animal Care Center, the Orange Public Library and the YMCA of Orange.
