
A Chapman University freshman orientation program that introduced students to sustainability issues has received special recognition from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.
In its just-released STARS Quarterly Review the association cited Chapman’s 2010 orientation program — particularly the portion of the project that familiarized students with the concepts of micro financing and lending — as a model for other colleges and universities. The Office of Orientation program was the work of multiple people and departments, including Office of the Vice Chancellor and Dean of Students, Kelli Sattler, assistant director for Student Affairs, Justin Koppelman, program coordinator for Student Civic Engagement, Jean Gunner, Ph.D., professor of English, and vice chancellor for undergraduate education,
