Chapman University will honor more than 2,700 graduates during its 2026 Commencement Weekend, taking place May 22–24, celebrating the achievements of students across the university’s 11 schools and colleges. Among the graduates are approximately 750 students earning advanced degrees, marking a milestone for the Class of 2026 as they prepare to begin their next chapter.

The main Commencement ceremony will feature Emmy-nominated Chapman alumni Matt Duffer ’07 and Ross Duffer ’07, collectively known as the Duffer Brothers, as keynote speakers. The ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 22, at Wilson Field, launching a weekend of celebration for graduates and their families.
The Duffer Brothers, graduates of Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, are best known as the creators of the global phenomenon Stranger Things, one of the most widely viewed original television series in history. Since its debut in 2016, the series has earned critical acclaim, inspired a devoted global fan base, and received 31 Primetime Emmy Award nominations and five Golden Globe nominations. The show concluded its final season in December 2025.
As part of the ceremony, the Duffer Brothers will also be awarded honorary doctorates in recognition of their creative achievements and contributions to the entertainment industry. The brothers previously returned to campus in 2017 to receive Chapman’s Alumni Achievement Award and have maintained a strong connection to the university community since their graduation, including engaging with students and sharing insights into their filmmaking careers.
This year’s Commencement also marks a historic moment for the university, as Matt Parlow presides over the ceremony in his first Commencement Weekend as President of Chapman University, following his inauguration last October.
The Friday evening Commencement ceremony will conclude with the President’s toast and a fireworks celebration, continuing Chapman’s tradition of honoring graduates with a festive and memorable sendoff as they join the university’s global alumni community.
