Robert HitchcockDuring finals at Chapman University, and while students reviewed notes, dove into textbooks, and prepared for exams, the Student Engagement team at the Harry and Diane Rinker Health Sciences Campus had a different kind of study aid in mind – furry friends!
To help ease stress and give students a well-deserved breather, the team welcomed a pack of furry visitors to campus, certified therapy dogs eager for pets, snuggles and smiles. The event offered students a moment to decompress, reset and enjoy some unconditional canine affection in the middle of a demanding academic week.
Rinker Health Science Campus
Chapman University’s Rinker Health Science Campus in Irvine serves as the University’s hub for graduate education and research in the health sciences. Home to the School of Pharmacy and several graduate programs within the Crean College of Health and Behavioral Sciences, the campus features advanced teaching labs, simulation suites and technology-enhanced learning environments that support interprofessional training in fields ranging from pharmacy to physical therapy to communication sciences.
Orange County Animal Allies
The therapy dog visit was held in partnership with Orange County Animal Allies and the PAWS Program (Pets Are Wonderful Support), an animal advocacy organization dedicated to keeping pets with their families by removing financial barriers to essential care. In addition to providing therapy dogs for wellness events like this one at Chapman, PAWS offers pet food and veterinary care vouchers to community members in need.
With cuddly support on hand and plenty of puppy love to go around, students left the event a bit more relaxed, and hopefully ready to ace those finals. Enjoy your holiday break students!!
