Harold Hewitt Appointed to California Educational Facilities Authority

California Gov. Gavin Newsom appointed Harold Hewitt to the California Educational Facilities Authority (CEFA). CEFA was established to issue bonds that financially support the construction and expansion of educational facilities at private non-profit colleges and universities.

Hewitt has served as Chapman University’s executive vice president and chief operating officer since 2008. Prior to his tenure at Chapman, he held key positions at esteemed organizations, including vice president and chief financial officer of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Assn. and vice president for administration and finance at Occidental College.

Hewitt’s background also includes roles at Whittier College and Claremont University Center, where he contributed significantly to financial management and planning.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Hewitt is engaged in philanthropic endeavors, serving as treasurer and a trustee of the Lingnan Foundation and as a past president of the Western Assn. of College and University Business Officers.

Hewitt holds a Master of Business Administration in finance from Claremont Graduate University and a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from Cornell College.
