The free community celebration transformed the heart of campus into a cheerful winter wonderland sparkling with music, lights and festive spirit.

The Canaday Amphitheater was transformed into a festive holiday scene, complete with set pieces that evoked a whimsical winter candy land and the magic of the North Pole. Gingerbread houses and candy canes lined the hillside, while lanterns with glowing candles added warmth to the stage. Oversized lollipops flanked both sides, enhancing the playful atmosphere. A cozy rug for children and ample seating for guests completed the inviting setting for the celebration.

What a tradition it has become, bigger and better each year. It is because of Doy Henley’s generosity and spirit.”

Children were amazed at the sights and got to see Pete the Panther—and the jolly man himself—showcase the holiday spirit. Students were equally joyful, as they bundled together for selfies among swirling artificial snowfall, a beloved Chapman tradition that added a touch of winter whimsy to the Southern California evening.

Throughout the night, performers including the alumni family Wimberley Bluegrass Band, student ensembles such as SoundCheck and Chaptones, and campus musicians and singers filled the air with lively tunes. Excitement grew as the crowd gathered for the beloved countdown to Doy’s holiday tree lighting. When the tree burst to life with dazzling lights, cheers and applause swept across the piazza, illuminating faces with a warm, colorful glow.
