Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts has long been a launchpad for students aspiring to work in the entertainment industry. Beyond its rigorous curriculum, the university offers an unparalleled experience: direct engagement with A-list Hollywood actors, writers, directors, producers and newsmakers.
Dean Stephen Galloway established Dodge College’s Master Class series in 2020, bringing critically acclaimed Hollywood professionals to campus each year. These guests offer honest insight into what it takes to be successful not only in the entertainment industry, but also in their personal lives. During enlightening moderated conversations with each guest, students even have the opportunity to ask their own questions directly.
In fall 2024, Dodge College welcomed the insightful wisdom of Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo (“Sing Sing”), two-time Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins (“The Father,” “Silence of the Lambs”), actor Daniel Craig (“No Time to Die,” “Glass Onion”), and Selena Gomez, an Oscar-nominated actress for her recent role in “Emilia Perez” and a beloved performer in “Only Murders in the Building.”
Students also benefited from the expertise of visionary director and writer Ava DuVernay (“Selma,” “When They See Us”), Oscar-winning director Damien Chazelle (“La La Land”), Oscar nominated screenwriter Meg LeFauve (“Inside Out,” “Inside Out 2”), the comedic genius of fivetime Emmy nominee Paul Feig (“Bridesmaids”), visual effects veteran and three-time Oscar winner Rob Legato ( “Titanic,” “The Jungle Book,” “Hugo”), and acclaimed Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda (“Shoplifters,” “Monster”).
The momentum continued into spring 2025 with another impressive lineup. Mikey Madison visited Chapman only a few weeks before her Best Actress Oscar win for “Anora.” Other guests included five-time Oscar-nominated cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto (“Killers of the Flower Moon”), Oscar-winning producer Doug Wick and producer Lucy Fisher (“Gladiator II”), Oscar-nominated visiting artist Julie Delpy (“Before Sunset,” “Before Midnight”), and yet another Oscar-nominated performer, actress Amanda Seyfried (“Mamma Mia!,” “Les Misérables,” “Mank”).
This exclusive opportunity to meet with and learn from influential Hollywood figures directly is an experience rarely found at other institutions. Chapman’s unique proximity to the entertainment industry offers students invaluable insights and connections, making it an ideal place for aspiring entertainment professionals.
