Campus Community—
With COVID-19 cases increasing in Southern California, Chapman’s COVID-19 Task Force remains in place to monitor the current state of COVID-19 and other health risks that could impact the Chapman community. While Orange County is currently in the “low” tier, there is an upward trend in cases of COVID and influenza, and Los Angeles County has moved into the “medium” tier for hospitalizations due to COVID.
Chapman will continue to offer free masks and COVID test kits to members of the Chapman community and continues to urge individuals to practice personal responsibility around preventing the spread of respiratory viruses, like COVID-19 and flu. As the campus community returns from the winter break, please help ensure the health of the community by acting on the following recommendations:
- Individuals should get flu and COVID vaccinations for this season if they have not yet already.
- If an individual is sick, stay home. If they feel well enough, faculty and staff should determine with their supervisor if they may work from home. Students should work with their professors to determine if assignments or participation can be done remotely.
- Masks can help reduce the spread of respiratory viruses. Wearing a high-quality mask while you travel, for example, can help protect you and others.
- Please see the resources from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for staying healthy during the respiratory viral season.
