Homecoming 2023 at Chapman University promises to be a weekend like no other, where learning takes center stage, recognizing that Homecoming is more than just a game; it’s an opportunity to bring the Chapman Family together to celebrate the pursuit of knowledge and personal growth.

Walt Disney & Charles Darwin: The Pursuit of Happiness and Knowledge: Dr. Brian Alters leads an exploration of the worlds of Walt Disney and Charles Darwin, revealing profound ideas that underpin our origins and our happiness. 

The Movies, the Moguls, and Me with Stephen Galloway: Chapman Dodge College of Film and Media Arts Dean Stephen Galloway takes audiences on a personal journey through the history of Hollywood, sharing insights into the titanic moguls and stars who shaped the industry. 

Innovating for OC’s Future: Leveraging Supercomputing for Community Advancement: 

Discover how AI and supercomputing can drive community advancement in Orange County with industry leaders and Chapman’s own experts. Speakers include: CEO Leadership Alliance Orange County (CLAOC), Chapman’s own Dr. Erik Linstead (Associate Professor, Fowler School of Engineering) and Keith Strier (Vice President, Worldwide AI Initiatives at NVIDIA)

Meaningful Persuasion: Evidence-Based Lessons for Persuasive Communication: Explore the art of persuasion in mass and interpersonal contexts, delving into the history and practical applications of persuasive techniques. 

Italian Renaissance Paintings: A Mathematical Revolution: Join Chapman President Daniele Struppa for a deep dive into the mathematical secrets hidden within Italian Renaissance paintings. 

The Art of Casting with Russell Boast: Want to hire a star? Better still, make your own! This interactive session with Professor Russell Boast, the former president of the Casting Society of America, will teach you everything you need to know about the magic and mystery of assembling the perfect cast. 

Confessions of a True Crime Expert: Forensic Psychology Adventures on the Scene, in Hollywood, and Beyond with Dr. Mohandie, a forensic psychologist with over 25 years of experience. He responded on-scene to the O.J. Simpson barricade and the North Hollywood Bank Robbery Shootout. His work has been featured in the LA Times, USA Today, E!, A&E, History, and the Discovery Channel. He was the host/producer on the Investigative Discovery show, Most Evil and consults in the entertainment industry.

Super Radar: Superman Didn’t Have it this Good: Masterclass with John Howell 

We’ve all seen a movie where some tech operator stares at a radar screen with a rotating line while watching two blips come terrifyingly closer and closer to our hero. What is radar? How is it used? Why is it important? And, why should we care? Dr. Howell will address these questions then talk about recent discoveries we’ve made at Chapman that we hope will turn the radar industry on its head.
