Artificial Intelligence Resources A Message From Chapman University President Daniele C. Struppa

As Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT increasingly become mainstream, our academic community must be engaged in the responsible use of this technology. Under the leadership of Executive Vice President and Provost Norma Bouchard and Vice President of Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) Helen Norris, a team including IS&T, Office of Research, Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, Senate President, Legal Affairs, faculty and staff have been developing guidelines and resources to support the usage of AI tools.

While we fully embrace the exploration of AI, we must stay informed of the ethical and societal implications and remain compliant with data privacy and security requirements. To that end, this team has developed a unified website for easy access to newly established AI guidelines and a growing repository of resources and information. I encourage you to bookmark this page and check back regularly as the team continues to add resources: https://www.chapman.edu/ai/index.aspx

Thank you to all those involved in building the AI hub. This will become a valuable tool for keeping the campus community informed and up to date on AI developments. I look forward to responsible innovation in Chapman’s own usage of AI.
