Marybelle Musco Contemporary Dance Series to Debut at Musco Center

Debuting this fall on the main stage of the Marybelle and Sebastian P. Musco Center for the Arts, a new dance series will feature three acclaimed professional dance companies: Mark Morris Dance Group, Camille A. Brown & Dancers, and MOMIX.

The Marybelle Musco Contemporary Dance Series was envisioned by and named for the center’s co-founding benefactor, Marybelle Musco, who said, “I proposed this series as a celebration of contemporary dance, showcasing prestigious companies that provide platforms for innovative choreography and performance.”

In addition to performances by world-class dance companies, the series will also incorporate workshops and classes for Chapman students, offering unique opportunities for aspiring dancers to learn from distinguished professionals in the field.

“Marybelle Musco has a lifetime interest in dance and is deeply knowledgeable about where dance is today,” said Richard T. Bryant, executive director of the Musco Center. “We are thrilled to partner with her to bring this exciting new dance series to Chapman.”

“The original mission and founding principles that my late husband Paul and I championed for this center are to present arts that bring together the world’s finest professional performers with Chapman students and ensembles, and to capture the transformative energy these collaborations create,” Marybelle Musco said.

The Marybelle Musco Contemporary Dance Series promises to be a highlight of the 2023-2024 performing arts season in Orange County. For performance schedules and tickets, visit muscocenter.org.
