Congratulations to the Recipients of This Week’s Service Plan of Recognition

We are proud to name this week’s Service Plan of Recognition awardees for their extraordinary work as Chapman responds to COVID-19. Each staff and administrator selected embodies the dedication and integrity that continues to drive and strengthen Chapman University.

This week’s recipients are: 

Kevin Bedwell, client/media services technician, IS&T

Kevin has provided consistently excellent service in support of virtual meetings and of faculty and staff working remotely throughout the pandemic. I constantly receive email from faculty and staff praising him for his service. – Helen Norris

 Julie Johnson, instructional analyst, IS&T

Julie has provided consistently excellent service in support of faculty teaching remotely during the pandemic. I receive constant feedback from faculty about Julie, with faculty members telling me how they simply could not have done it without her. – Helen Norris

Essraa Nawar, library development coordinator & assistant, Leatherby Libraries

Essraa is to be commended for her facilitation and stewardship of library donors during the pandemic, which included personal visits and thoughtful communication above and beyond her regular duties. – Helen Norris  

Ivan Portillo, coordinator of Rinker Campus library services, Leatherby Libraries

Ivan is recognized for his excellent work in reopening the Rinker Campus Study Commons in Fall ’20. Ivan assumed much of the responsibility to ensure that he maintained excellent service and a safe environment for the Rinker community. – Helen Norris 

Susan Sams, international scholar services manager, Faculty Affairs

From the start of the pandemic challenges arose for our international visitors & faculty coming from abroad. Various travel bans & embassy closures have & still do vary from country to country – Susan’s personalized assistance has been exceptional! – Eileen Besner

 Rosa Torres, food services

Rosa has been a key part of the opening of the Starbucks for the students this spring, Rosa has done a great job keeping up with all the COVID-19 periodicals to keep everyone safe. – Eric Cameron

Bianca Turner, department assistant, Strategic Marketing & Communications

Bianca has seamlessly managed the Chapman Operator line from home during the pandemic. She is the first person many people speak to when they call us and she has played a vital role in directing people to the most current Covid-19 information. – Jamie Ceman
