Orange, Calif. – Chapman University announced Shari Battle as the new chair of The Industry Partners Council. Battle, Bank of America SVP, market manager of Orange County, will lead the council in facilitating a strategic corporate support network by building a pipeline for student internships, full-time employment for alumni and networking opportunities for the entire Chapman Family.
Battle was The Industry Partners Council’s vice chair since its inception in 2019 serving with inaugural Chair Galen Grillo, vice president of planning and enterprise integration for the Automobile Club of Southern California. Grillo and Battle have led the way in building meaningful relationships with corporate, civic, business and industry leaders.
“Our relationship with Chapman University reflects the true, deep, meaning of partnership. We can always count on Chapman to exceed our expectations and help us wow our clients,” said Battle.
The Industry Partners Council is part of the Think Chapman First initiative led by the university’s Office of Career and Professional Development and focuses on five key pillars: Engage, Purpose/Philanthropy, Recruit, Learn and Research. The council’s 15 members include representatives from Automobile Club of Southern California, Bank of America, Bay Alarm Company, Cresa, ECOS, FDA, IdeaHall, Ingram Micro, Johnson & Johnson, Monster Energy, Orange County Business Council, Park West Landscape, Inc., Robert Half Company, Salvation Army, SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union and Tax & Financial Group.
“We consistently see that 97% of employer partners are satisfied with their Chapman interns,” said Jo Bandy, vice president, career and professional development. “Connecting Chapman students to careers and internships is definitely mutually beneficial, which is why we’re seeing so much involvement from some of the country’s largest companies.”
In addition to connecting students and alumni with career opportunities, the council also helps to match unique industry research needs with expert faculty resources.
