Chapman Experts to Discuss Public Perceptions of Climate Change in the Next “Ask the Experts”

Mark your calendar. The entire Chapman community – faculty, staff and students – and the broader community are invited to join Chapman University’s Vice President for Research Thomas Piechota, Ph.D., PE, as he hosts and moderates the eleventh installment of “Ask the Experts” on Friday, September 18, at 11:30 a.m.

The upcoming virtual town hall will focus on the public perceptions of climate change, the focus of this year’s Orange County Annual Survey, and its effect on water, health and wildfires. The town hall will feature OC Annual Survey authors Fred Smoller, Ph.D. and Mike Moodian, Ed.D. who will be joined by panelists Seung Hee Kim, Ph.D., Associate Director of The Center of Excellence in Earth Systems Modeling & Observations (CEESMO); Georgiana Bostean, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Environmental Science, Health and Policy; and community expert Paul A. Cook, Manager of the Irvine Ranch Water District.

The widely successful town hall series, which draws in about 300 participants per town hall, brings together experts from a variety of disciplines, viewpoints and backgrounds to discuss topics relevant to the current moment.

“We wanted to create an engaging forum where people could learn and ask questions about timely and relevant topics and hear from diverse perspectives including faculty and community partners,” said Piechota.

COVID-19, the future of real estate and climate change are just a few of the topics covered since the series kicked off earlier this year in March. Tune in on Sept. 18 to learn more about the public perceptions of climate change, and get your questions answered by local experts. A Q&A will follow. Please register at your earliest convenience.

If you missed any of the town halls or simply wish to view one again, recordings of past town halls are available in the Ask the Experts website.
