Having control of your online meeting security is important for creating a safe and productive working environment. We are all familiar with the phrase “zoom bombing.” The same concept applies to Microsoft Teams as well. That is why on June 4, IS&T will be adjusting the Microsoft Teams security default settings so that all meetings hosted by Chapman University users will see the following settings:
Virtual Lobby
All non-Chapman University users will be placed in a virtual lobby prior to entering a meeting. The meeting host will have control on when to admit attendees who are in the virtual lobby.
Attendees, Participants, and Presenters
All non-Chapman University users will automatically be assigned the “attendee” role and will not have access to participant controls/features, such as screen sharing or requesting meeting control unless otherwise granted by the meeting host/presenter.
Important Note:
These new changes to the default security settings will apply to meetings that are already scheduled or to meeting series that are already scheduled.
For more information on how to change the meeting security settings in Teams, please see Default Meeting Security Policies in Microsoft Teams.
