Congratulations to this Week’s Service Plan of Recognition Recipients

We are proud to name this week’s Service Plan of Recognition awardees for their extraordinary work as Chapman responds to COVID-19. Each staff and administrator selected embodies the dedication and integrity that continues to drive and strengthen Chapman University.

This week’s recipients are: 

Dr. Rocke DeMark, associate dean of student affairs, Office of Student Affairs, School of Pharmacy

Nicole and Rocke went above and beyond the call of duty to create, plan and deliver a virtual awards ceremony for the graduating CUSP students. The amount of work, collaboration and attention to detail was evident in the quality of the event. – LB Brown

Jennifer Ahern, assistant registrar, Office of the Registrar

Jennifer has done an amazing job of testing and setting up the Research Management & Tracking module in Campus Solutions for the graduate programs. She worked closely with Dr. Miller to implement this and it will be going live in fall 2020. – Mike Pelly

Karin Spicer, cash operations manager, Cashier’s Office

Karin has modeled great leadership to her team and ensured continuous coverage for our cashiering functions throughout the university. – Behzad Binesh

Constanza Cartagena, accounting specialist, Accounts Payable

Karina Cruz Bautista, accounts payable specialist, Accounts Payable

Coni and Karina have gone above and beyond in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. They have always been responsive for anything that may be needed. – Rosie Garcia

Reggie Ramos, retail assistant, operations manager, Sodexo

Reggie has continued to show the best in customer service by taking food and essential products to the students in the “K” and Chapman Grand. He has been on the front lines and very proud of the work he is doing every day. – Eric Cameron

Herlinda Zamora, custodian, Aramark

Guadalupe Amaya, custodian, Aramark

Herlinda and Guadalupe have been part of the cleaning team, responsible for the dorm rooms, since the closing of campus. They have been instrumental in providing a safe environment for the students still onsite and those returning in the fall. Outstanding job!!! – Rick Turner

Garrett Eastwood, communications & training specialist, IS&T

Garrett worked day and night to get IS&T’s teaching, working and learning websites online. He maintained calm with a can-do attitude to all urgent requests. I appreciate the extra work and timeliness to deliver great communication and training. – Helen Norris

 

Devon Marlink, client services technician, IS&T

Devon stepped right in to support our users to work remotely, addressing all escalated Mac requests with urgency and professionalism. His Mac technical skills and teamwork have contributed to the success of helping our users work remotely. – Helen Norris

Barry Taylor, network specialist, IS&T

Barry has been a great asset in the Online Meetings team. He is positive and continues to provide excellent customer service and support. His willingness to be flexible in schedule has made covering the various shifts easy at this time. – Helen Norris

Negin Ahmadian, web programmer/Analyst, IS&T

Negin has been a wonderful thought partner in automating some HR processes, through Microsoft Forms and Power Automate. This is particularly important since we are not able to be physically in the office and retrieve the paperwork. – Helen Norris

Michelle Garcia, parking enforcement officer, Public Safety

On May 5, 2020, Michelle appropriately followed-up on second-hand information and coordinated the removal of two unauthorized trespassers from university property, preventing additional crimes and keeping the current resident community safe. – Randy Burba

Lionel Luna, lieutenant, Public Safety

Lionel has done a tremendous job scheduling and ensuring there are adequate resources protecting our campus and ensuring the well-being of the officers and supervisors that are providing the front-line services and working extended shifts. – Randy Burba

Gloria Re’, dispatcher, Public Safety

On May 3, 2020, Dispatcher Re observed, via camera, a trespasser at Panther Village. Dispatcher Re sent officers who contacted the subject inside the perimeter. Gloria’s diligence prevented further criminal activity. – Randy Burba

Al Cabrera, sergeant, Public Safety

Sergeant Cabrera has been instrumental in keeping on-duty training relevant for DPS patrol personnel currently working; ensuring officers stay up-to-date on any response issues while serving the campus community. – Randy Burba

Joel Wilson, officer, Public Safety

Officer Wilson has been diligent in patrolling the main campus and Chapman Grand. He is willing to fill in for others where necessary to ensure extra coverage for our campuses. – Randy Burba

Curtis Dawson, officer, Public Safety

Officer Dawson has been diligent in patrolling the campus and has provided many special requests around access and equipment for our community. He is quick to help and serve. –Randy Burba

Dave Castaneda, fire safety officer, Public Safety

Dave has helped out patrol officers by conducting additional security patrols in addition to his fire and Life Safety specific duties. The extra work and assistance have been invaluable in keeping the community safer. – Randy Burba

Aaron Ramirez, officer, Public Safety

Officer Ramirez has consistently provided excellent service to individuals with special requests/needs. His diligent patrol and service-oriented responses are noticed by the community. – Randy Burba

Stacy Padilla, SMC project manager, Strategic Marketing and Communications

Stacy stepped up to assist with updating projects in Workfront in the wake of event and project cancellations, and her work is the reason graduates received a special gift sent to their home to celebrate. – Jamie Ceman

Gabrielle Richmond, department operations coordinator, University Advancement Operations

Gabby is exceptional. She continues managing office logistics under these remote circumstances and consistently keeps me organized and on-task. I am very appreciative of her positive attitude and willingness to assist with any project. – Pia Brancolino

Mandana Mahmoudi, operations administrator, Strategic Engagement and Development

Mandana goes above and beyond to support the Strategic Engagement & Development team! She is responsive to needs of our donors and fundraisers. Her awesome work plays a great part in our success. Our entire department is so thankful! – Delite Travis

Kristi Deschenes, department coordinator, Office of the Executive Vice President of University Advancement

Despite working remotely, Kristi has thoughtfully monitored daily gift reports to ensure our donors receive prompt and personalized acknowledgment letters and important board activities and meetings run smoothly, no matter the modality. – Sheryl Bourgeois
