For Safety Information, Download Panther Guardian App

The Chapman community is encouraged to download and access this helpful safety resource: the Panther Guardian safety app. It’s a free app that allows you to check in with friends, family, Public Safety and other people you trust to help you stay safe both on and off campus.

“We don’t always think about safety—our default is that we’re safe,” says Randy Burba, Chief of Public Safety. “It’s good to have pre-existing things in place. With the Panther Guardian App, you’re able to text Public Safety easily in the event of an emergency. It’s nice to have the extra layer of protection and resources ready to go.”

This app has three unique features that help the user stay safe:

  • Safety Timer and Virtual Escort
Panther Guardian lets you to notify others if you’re alone or in an unfamiliar place. If you do not turn off the safety timer, it will automatically notify Chapman University Public Safety.
  • Manage & Message Your Guardians
You can invite whoever you want to be your “guardian” and communicate with them within the app as needed.
  • Easy Emergency Communication
If you feel like you’re in danger, you can call Public safety directly. Also, if you see something suspicious, you can send text tips—including photos—to PSAFE.

The app is available for iPhone and Android devices.

If you have any additional questions about Panther Guardian, visit this page.

To stay informed about public safety concerns, the Chapman community is welcome to visit the Public Safety Blog.

In the event of an emergency, Public Safety will send a Panther Alert communication to Chapman computers, phones and the main website. The Panther Guardian app is a distinct platform; Panther Alerts will not push through the app.
