Martinez founded the Libreria Martinez in downtown Santa Ana. The Spanish-language bookstore, which is now the Centro Comunitario de Educación, serves as a cultural and education hub in the community. The location operates in partnership with Chapman’s College of Educational Studies.

As a major proponent of secondary education, Martinez gives Chapman tours to prospective students and speaks at local schools. He takes his time to impress upon young people the importance of reading and learning at every chance.
