Kerk Kee, Ph.D., associate professor in Chapman University’s new School of Communication, has been accepted to spend this summer 2016 as an academic visitor at the Oxford Internet Institute (OII), University of Oxford, England.
Dr. Kee will be undertaking a research project looking at the emergence and diffusion of cyberinfrastructure as an innovation in the U.K. (an extension of his two National Science Foundation grants).
He will also give a research talk on “The 10 Attributes That Drive Adoption and Diffusion of Cyberinfrastructure in the U.S.,” based on data collected in his NSF VOSS grant and on a new paper competitively accepted for publication in the proceedings of the upcoming XSEDE (Extreme Science & Engineering Discovery Environment) conference in Miami. (XSEDE is the largest NSF-funded cyberinfrastructure in the U.S. and thus arguably the largest cyberinfrastructure in the world.)
Most of Dr. Kee’s current research involves studying cyberinfrastructure, defined as research environments that support advanced data acquisition, storage, management and other computing services, which efficiently connect many laboratories, data and computers with the goal of sharing and enabling novel scientific theories and knowledge.
