Give thanks – and feast – on Thanksgiving, brave the stores on Black Friday and find those online bargains on Cyber Monday. Then consider the Chapman Fund for that relatively new holiday tradition – #GivingTuesday.
Begun in 2012, #GivingTuesday is all about taking a moment to support charitable organizations with contributions that make a positive difference in the lives of others.
The
Chapman Fund
certainly fits that standard every day of the year. The fund supports a variety of needs, including scholarships, faculty excellence and student enrichment.
The Chapman Fund has certainly changed the life of Courtney Bankhead ’17. The Cypress, Calif., native says her generous Dean’s Scholarship enabled her to attend Chapman to study television and broadcast journalism.
“Generous is too limited a word to describe the way the Chapman Family supports students through the Chapman Fund. You have provided me with the essential tools to thrive at life on a university scale, and for that I am always grateful,” Bankhead says.
In fact, Bankhead now works as one of the student Phonathon callers who seek Chapman Fund support as they reach out to alumni and parents. Working there, she says, has allowed her to “experience each and every day the kinds of people who are a part of this community, supporting your everyday, ambitious Chapman student like myself.”
