Music of The Beatles, Alley Cats and Heart heats up Free Summer Concerts

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ Hollywood Bowl appearance, reunite with old friends and dance under the summer stars at Chapman University’s FREE Family-Friendly Summer Concert Series.

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ Hollywood Bowl appearance, reunite with old friends and dance under the summer stars when Chapman University’s FREE Family-Friendly Summer Concert Series opens next month.

The outdoor concert series runs three consecutive Fridays — July 18 and 25 and Aug. 1 — with all concerts starting at 6:30 p.m. on the Wells Fargo Stage in Attallah Piazza. Picnics are welcome, but leave the grills at home, please.

Start planning those picnics and mark your calendars now for:

  • July 18 — Britain’s Finest, a Beatles tribute. Relive the summer of ’64, when the Fab Four first rocked the Hollywood Bowl! The award-winning Britain’s Finest kicks off the series with the iconic lyrics, looks and music of the legendary Fab Four.

  • July 25 – The Alley Cats. Wear your Chapman Panther gear and join us for timeless doo-wop classics and the zany banter of the cats who take us back to the early days of cool.
  • Aug. 1 – Heart to Heart. Dance into August with legendary songs like Barracuda and Magic Man when Heart to Heart takes the stage and pays tribute to the energetic music of Heart.

All concerts are free and open to the public. Concert-only parking will be available free in Lastinger Parking Structure. More information is available at the 2014 Summer Concert Series website.
