Quench your thirst for water-friendly garden ideas at World Water Day event

California’s unrelenting drought means it’s time to rethink those water-guzzling lawns and gardens, which drink up more than 50 percent of the water used in Southern California homes. So the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences in Schmid College of Science and Technology has planned its third annual World Water Day event to focus exclusively on drought-resistant landscaping.

The activities will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, April 4, in Hashinger 150. Speakers include:

  • Garry Brown, president, OC Coastkeeper
  • Celia Kutcher, conservation chair, Orange County Section of the California Native Plant Society www.occnps.org
  •  Jennifer Funk, Ph.D., assistant professor, School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Chapman University

In addition, there will be refreshments, native plant displays and seeds and books available for purchase. The guest talks are free, but reservations are requested and may be made by emailing Cheryl Stack at cstack@chapman.edu
